David drove this Patrol to Cape York where he asked his girlfriend if she’d mind marrying him. She said “yes”, probably thinking that the Patrol’s build was finished.
David’s Patrol has been built to perform in off-road competitions and tour Australia when he’s not competing.
With this in mind, he’s been modding the Patrol to improve it’s performance off-road without taking away from its everyday driveability and reliability.
The Patrol is powered by Nissan’s super reliable 4.2 turbo-diesel straight six and this one has received some bolt-on performance enhancers: including an upgraded turbo, a larger capacity fuel pump and a snorkel.
The only addition (that we know about) to the drivetrain, has been the fitting of a Pro Locker locking diff in the front axle.
The suspension on the other hand has been significantly upgraded, with the shorty now riding on a 6-inch suspension lift, that uses components supplied by Superior Engineering.
Shocks are Tough Dog units and David’s currently running 35-inch Federal Couragia mud tyres on steel rims.
Bar work consists of an off-the-shelf XROX front bar and a custom set of steel sliders to protect the sills.
The Patrol’s 12 volt power requirements are provided by a triple battery system, that in addition to other accessories, runs an LED light bar, HID spotties, a 60-litre fridge and the Runva 12000lb winch if needed.
David might have proposed at The Cape but he reckons the Patrol has seen a lot of the rest of Australia, including two trips across the Simpson Desert.
According to David, “this truck is in no way finished yet”.
