Great Wall is back in Australia with a do-over of it’s budget priced ute and full control over its new distribution network.
Uniquely named, the Great Wall Steed is according to the manufacturer, all-new and features new levels of styling, performance, safety and comfort.
“The new Steed is the ute Australian farmers and tradies have been looking for,” said Great Wall Motors Australia General Manager Tony Carraturo.
“It represents a great combination of form and function that offers outstanding value for money. The long list of standard features – including ESP and six airbags – gives us confidence Great Wall will once again be a hit with customers in the light commercial vehicle sector wanting a great value one-tonne ute.
The Great Wall Steed is being launched with a three-model line-up, offering buyers a choice of petrol and diesel engines with 4×2 and 4×4 powertrains all available in a single specification level, priced as follows:
Great Wall Steed Dual Cab Petrol 4×2 – $24,990 driveaway
Great Wall Steed Dual Cab Diesel 4×2 – $26,990 driveaway
Great Wall Steed Dual Cab Diesel 4×4 – $29,990 driveaway
The two engine options are a Euro V compliant fuel-injected 2.4-litre petrol engine (only available in the 4X2), delivering 100kW and 205Nm and a 2.0-litre common rail turbo-diesel, good for 110 kW and 310Nm.
The diesel is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, while the petrol comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission.
The Steed’s rated for a payload of 1010kg and a braked towing capacity of 2000kg and comes standard with four heavy duty tie-down points in the lined tub.
The Steed’s single specification level includes side steps, a stainless steel sports bar, mirror-mounted indicators, daytime running lamps and 16-inch alloy rims.
Inside, there’s heated seats, a powered driver’s seat (6-way), cruise control with steering wheel controls, Bluetooth phone and audio streaming, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, stainless steel scuff plates and climate control air-conditioning.
On the safety front there are six airbags, including full-length side curtain airbags, Bosch’s V9.0 Electronic Stability Program, including ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Brake Assist, and Hill-start Assist Control.
A Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) is also standard.
The Steed utes are covered by a comprehensive 3-year / 100,000km warranty and three years’ free roadside assistance available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
Right now there are close to 50 Great Wall dealers in Australia, and Great Wall says its customers can expect new levels of servicing and spare parts service
