Kate needed a vehicle that would handle the daily drive and keep up with the bigger Patrols and Cruisers on the weekend. This Colorado does all of that and it’s orange. Kate loves orange.
Being a member of the 4X4 Adventure Club means that Kate’s weekend 4X4 trips with the club can get quite interesting. In Kate’s words some of the tracks they drive are “fairly extreme” and the Colorado has been built to handle it.
The mods have been carefully selected to enhance the Colorado’s traction and ground clearance, and to keep damage to a minimum.
The big ticket items are a matching pair of Harrop E-Lockers, one at each end, and a set of 285/75/16 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws. Combined they make the Colorado a formidable off-roader.
A Tough Dog 40mm suspension package provides additional clearance, while XROX sliders and Brown Davis engine and transmission guards help keep the vitals dent, scrape and puncture free.
Up front there’s an ARB bull bar with a Bushranger winch, and the rear also gets the ARB treatment with one of the brands rear step towbars fitted.
A Safari snorkel keeps the engine intake dry when tackling those deep High Country river crossings.
Kate has chosen to keep the rest of the Colorado stock, with no engine or interior modifications undertaken.
Recent trips away have included the Kimberley, the Northern Territory and the Red Centre.
