Jeep Cherokee Limited Diesel Rounds Out Local Cherokee Range

Jeep has announced the arrival of the final addition to its local Cherokee range, the Cherokee Limited Diesel.

It’s a bit of techno tour de force with more gears than you can poke a stick at (nine-speed tranny) and a powertrain package that is claimed to provide similar fuel consumption to that achieved by some small hatches.

The heart of the beast is a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel with Start/Stop technology that manages to deliver 125kW and 350Nm all while averaging a claimed 5.8 l/100.

That nine-speed auto we mentioned no-doubt does it’s bit to keep the little diesel singing along at just the right rpm, ensuring maximum efficiency.

The intelligent technology extends through to Jeep’s Active Drive II 4WD system which will disconnect the rear axle to improve efficiency, only engaging 4WD when necessary. The drive system features a two-speed power transfer unit with torque management and low range unique to the diesel powertrain.

There is only the one spec level which is priced at $49,000*. Standard features include 18-inch aluminum wheels, leather upholstery with heated front seats, Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen with navigation, front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera and an Alpine nine-speaker surround sound system all as standard.

Awarded a 5-star ANCAP rating, the Cherokee Limited Diesel has seven airbags (front seats multistage air bags, side bags, window bags, driver side knee air bag), ESC (Electronic Stability Control) with ERM (rollover mitigation) and ABS (anti-lock brake system) with both on-road and off-road calibration.

The all-new Jeep Cherokee Limited, powered by the efficient 2.0-

Saving the driver from themselves as well as helping them park are a raft of electronic nanny systems including Forward Collision Warning-Plus, ParkSense Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control-Plus, Lane Departure Warning-Plus, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path Detection.

It’ll tow a fair sized load as well with a braked trailer limit of 2393kg.

The Limited Diesel completes the local Cherokee line-up, which is also available in Sport guise, with its 2.4-litre petrol engine, and the Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk trim levels – all offered with Jeep’s 3.2-litre Pentastar V6.
