2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD PRO Unveiled At Chicago Auto Show

2017 TOYOTA TACOMA TRD PRO UNLEASHED IN CHICAGO

The 2016 Chicago auto show has just kicked off and one of the first reveals was the new Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro.

I’ts based on the Tacoma 4X4 double cab, with the short tray option box ticked and it’s been given a good going over by the US arm of TRD (Toyota Racing Developments). In fact it’s the third TRD Pro Toyota, with the Tundra and 4Runner having previously had the TRD wand waved over them.

The Tacoma TRD Pro is powered by a 3.5-litre 207kW V6 backed by either a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox. The auto option includes a transmission oil cooler, crawl control mode, hill start assist, and a multi-terrain selector system.

Manual versions are fitted with an active traction system that maintains traction via the braking system, or in other words Traction Control (TC).

Standard kit includes a part-time four-wheel drive system, automatic limited-slip diff, a towing pack, an engine oil and power steering cooler, a 130 amp alternator, and trailer-sway control.

It’s underneath the Tacoma TRD Pro where it all gets a bit sexy. There’s a ‘one with the lot’ suspension upgrade that includes a 25mm ride height increase thanks to TRD front springs, progressive rate off-road rear leaf springs and a full set of Fox 2.5 internal bypass shock absorbers.

Externally, the TRD Pro is fitted with an aluminium front bash plate, Rigid Industries fog lights, TRD Pro badging, and a grille with heritage-style Toyota lettering. The blacked out 16-inch alloy wheels wear Kevlar-reinforced Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tyres.

Inside the Tacoma TRD Pro are embossed leather seats, a leather steering wheel, and TRD gearshift knob and floor mats.
