Toyota has announced the introduction of a TRD accessories package for the N80 – eighth generation – HiLux SR5.
Priced from $58,990, the TRD equipped SR5 is available only in black or white double cab models with leather accented trim.
Toyota Australia executive director Tony Cramb said limiting the TRD package to the SR5 made sense because it accounted for more than half of all 4X4 HiLux sales in 2016.
“Local buyers voted with their wallets to make HiLux the best-selling vehicle in Australia last year – and the majority clearly indicated their preference for upmarket features combined with HiLux’s renowned go-anywhere capability,” he said.
The TRD accessories package includes;
Red TRD-branded front bash plate (hard to miss)
Bespoke TRD black grille
Unique TRD lower bumper cover
Wheel arch flares
Black 18-inch six-spoke alloys
Black sports bar
Black mouldings along side of body and leading edge of bonnet
Soft tonneau cover
Tail light covers
Towing kit (tongue, ball and wiring harness)
TRD carpet floor mats
TRD gear knob (automatic only)
There are no changes to the SR5 HiLux’s 2.8-litre turbo-diesel that in standard form produces 130kW/450Nm (6-speed automatic) and 30Nm less when paired with the manual gearbox.
The TRD accessories package bumps the entry-level white manual SR5 HiLux pricing up from $54,390 to $58,990, an increase of $4,600 that sees it heading into Ranger Wildtrack and Amarok V6 territory.
